On August 31, 2026, I was invited to give a keynote lecture at a Japan–Taiwan seminar on sediment transport and riverbed morphodynamics, organized by the JSCE’s “young” researchers’ group — or, more precisely, a self-proclaimed young researchers’ group. 😄
As usual, I showed off the latest tricks of Cabernet2D and Freebird, and fortunately, they seemed to enjoy the show!
I was especially impressed by the Taiwanese team from Tainan. Their technical level was outstanding — they had already simulated the glacial-collapse flood in Nepal that had occurred only a few days earlier. That was fast!
A very stimulating day, and a good reminder that in research, we should stay young… at least in spirit! 😄
